In the framework of the Inter-University Cooperation project between Luxembourg and Laos, the Faculty of Law and Political Science National University of Laos welcomed a delegation from the University of Luxembourg on the 18th-20th of February 2020 for the 4th edition of the ‘Seminar on Legal Research and Methodology’. Pr. Stefan Braum, Dr. Perrine Simon and four PhD students – Florence d’Ath, Teresa Quintel, Roila Mavrouili and Natalia Vorobyeva, led a three-day seminar.
Two lecturers of the FLP, Somsack Hongvichit and Pangthong Xayyavong, shared their experience in writing a paper with the University of Luxembourg’s support. This was followed by a presentation on the “Doctoral studies in Luxembourg” in view of selecting a PhD student from the FLP. The seminar was dedicated to basic legal research skills including search for reliable sources, plagiarism, referencing, legal academic writing including mind mapping, comparative law methodology, etc.
All workshops included practical group exercises. Around 35 teachers from the FLP attended and interacted intensely with the delegation. The seminar ended with a quiz testing the knowledge of the participants. The lucky winner got some Belgian chocolates!
